Your Aftercare Guide

It’s time to talk about aftercare:

It’s common to feel the following after a sound session:

Disorientation or light-headedness

Feeling energised or exhausted

Detoxification experiences such as nausea, change in bowel movements, or headaches

Greater awareness of your body

Emotional releases like crying, laughing, or anger

Changes in breath during and after sessions

Regions of ease and discomfort

These feelings are usually temporary and are part of the process of releasing stored tensions and energies from the body. You should allow time to process these feelings, stay hydrated, and rest if needed.

Like most holistic therapies, sound therapy can trigger a personal response either physically, mentally or emotionally (or all three). It is often experienced as mild changes from your normal state and will subside quickly.

Everyone has varied experiences, as we are each on our unique journey. Every time I have received a sound session, the experience has been different. Whatever happens, the sounds tell me something, and I learn more about myself!

Most of us live very busy lives, and the art of paying attention to ourselves and putting our needs first can be challenging. With this in mind, I have put together some tips for your self-care post-session, to help you make the most out of your sound experience.

Innerminx Tips:

Keep hydrated: Try to avoid alcohol, coffee or other stimulants, they have a dehydrating effect. Instead, drink lots of water or herbal tea.

Quality time: Try to relax for the remainder of the day/evening if you can. Perhaps take a warm shower or bath.

Listen to yourself: It is not unusual to gain new awareness, insights, and perspectives.Give yourself time and space to process whatever comes up for you.

Journal: Writing is a powerful way to gain clarity in your healing and aid further relief. Painting, singing, shaking your body, or dancing can also support this.

A couple of journal prompts you could use are:

— How am I feeling right now?

— What do I need to release?

Tune into one or more affirmations: I will send these as a follow-up post-session.

Connect with nature: Spend time in a garden park or other green space if possible.Sit outside under the stars. It helps you tune into all your senses and be in the moment.

Be thankful: Feel grateful for the healing coming from within yourself.

If nothing resonates above, just “be”. Close your eyes, be aware of your body, and smile.
